START

DAY 1 | CUSCO
Arrival at the International Airport of the City of Cusco, at the coordinated time, our staff will be waiting for you to assist you and take you to the hotel. Later, you will have the rest of the day free to enjoy this great city in the Peruvian Andes, which was the capital of the Inca Empire.
● Night in Cusco at the selected hotel.

DAY 2 | CUSCO – CITY TOUR
After breakfast at the coordinated time, you will enjoy a guided tour of this charming city, which was the capital of the Inca Empire. The tour begins by visiting the Convent of Santo Domingo, which was built on the Inca temple of Coricancha, one of the most important sites dedicated to the cult of the sun. Ancient chronicles say that its walls were covered in gold leaf and filled with golden representations of nature. Then, you will visit the Cathedral, the most impressive monument in the Plaza de Armas. Then head towards the Cusco hills where the Sacsayhuamán fortress is located, whose imposing walls offer an impressive panoramic view of Cusco. Continue to Qenqo, an archaeological complex for religious use where it is believed that the Incas practiced rituals related to agriculture. Your tour ends in PucaPucará, in Quechua “red fort”, an architectural complex supposedly for military use, with multiple environments, plazas, baths, aqueducts and towers. It is believed that it was used by the Inca entourage while the leader rested in Tambomachay. After finishing the visit, you will return to the historic center.
● Night in Cusco at the selected hotel.

DAY 3 | CUSCO – WAYLLABAMBA
The trekking team will pick you up from your hotel within the historic center of Cusco very early in the morning to take a bus to the city of Chilca at Km 82, where the trek begins along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. The bus ride is beautiful and you will have the opportunity to enjoy a spectacular view of the Peruvian Andes. The first stop is for about 20 minutes in the well-known Inca town “Ollantaytambo” to continue the bus trip to the starting point of your hike. Here we unpack and prepare to begin the hike with the guide and trekking equipment (please have your passport at hand). After approximately three hours of walking and passing a viewpoint, where you will see a beautiful Inca building known as “Llactapata” at the base of the mountains, Tarayoc is the stop for lunch. In the afternoon you will continue walking to the first camp at 3,000 meters, called Wayllabamba. Dinner will be at the camp.
● Night at a designated campsite.

DAY 4 | WONDERS OF THE WAYLLABAMBA MOUNTAINS – PACAYMAYO
Early in the morning, accompanied by a good hot cup of tea, we will prepare for this beautiful day. After breakfast, the most difficult and surprising part of our adventure will begin, walking to the highest point of the Inca Trail, from where you will have an incredible panoramic view of the entire area and observe different types of microclimates (4,215 meters). After a 6-hour hike, you will reach the first pass, called Warmiwañusca or Dead Woman’s Pass, where you will get a tremendous feeling of achievement mixed with relief of having reached the pass. After reaching the summit, you will continue the hike to Pacaymayo, where you will have lunch and spend the night at the camp (altitude 3,600 meters above sea level).
● Night at a designated campsite.

DAY 5 | THE MAGICAL TRAIL FROM PACAYMAYO TO WIÑAYWAYNA
We consider this to be the most beautiful and longest day due to the different microclimate and arrival in the cloud forest. After breakfast, the hike begins towards the second pass of the Inca Trail, 3,950 meters above sea level. Along the way, you have a guided tour of the Runkurakay archaeological complex and the Sayacmarca Inca citadel. Later we will continue our journey to Phuyupatamarca (town above the clouds), another important archaeological monument where we will have our lunch. After a short rest, the descent narrows to one of the most beautiful Inca sites on the Inca Trail, Wiñay Huayna (means Always Young). The camp is near this complex; we will leave our belongings and then enjoy a guided tour of this impressive archaeological site. Dinner will be served at our camp, where we will have the opportunity to say goodbye to our porter and cook friends and be grateful for this incredible and beautiful experience in the Andes.
● Night at a designated campsite.

DAY 6 | MYSTERIOUS AND MAGNIFICENT WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
After breakfast, we will begin our walk of approximately one and a half hours through the cloud forest to reach the Puerta del Sol (Inti Punku), from where we will have the first panoramic view of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival at the citadel, the guided tour is approximately two hours around the magnificent archaeological complex, visiting the main sites and monuments. Machu Picchu is located 2,400 meters above sea level. After touring this extraordinary work of engineering, you will have free time to walk around on your own and then take the bus back to Aguas Calientes. From there you will take a train back to Ollantaytambo (time and destination indicated on your train ticket). Our transportation will be waiting for your arrival to take you back to the city of Cusco, ending a few days full of adventures and new experiences.
● Night in Cusco at the selected hotel.

DAY 7 | CUSCO – AIRPORT
This day we will say goodbye to Cusco. Before leaving for the airport, have breakfast at the hotel and check-out, then our team will be waiting to take you to your flight back to Lima or another destination. We hope you had an incredible time, days full of adventures, many good times and new experiences, and that you return home with souvenirs, many photos and incredible anecdotes to remember this trip through magical Peru.

Considerations

To secure a permit and entry ticket to the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, government regulations require complete and up-to-date passport information for all hikers. Permits are not transferable and can easily sell out; it is recommended to make your reservation at least 4 months in advance. Climbing Huayna Picchu is an excellent option to a trip to Machu Picchu. It offers really beautiful views, but it is a steep climb that can take about three hours. Entry to Huayna Picchu is limited and at scheduled times; visitors must request a spot in advance if you want to consider doing the climb. While not as physically demanding as the full Inca Trail, hikers should be in good physical condition.
