START

DAY 1: CUSCO – LARES – HUACAWASI

This day begins with pickup from your hotel within the historic center to head to Calca in the Sacred Valley. Once there, we have the opportunity to purchase anything you may need.

We continue the journey to reach the highest point of the day at 4,265 meters above sea level (13,992 FASL), where Sawasiray and Pitusiray, two great mountains, greet us. We then descend to 3,207 MASL / 10,521 FASL in Lares, a typical small colonial town. Here we can enjoy the hot springs, have lunch, and prepare to begin our hiking adventure.

We will take an ascending route towards Huacawasi (3,600 MASL / 12,500 FASL), our first stop. This small town is full of colors and good vibes, with adobe houses and many typical llamas. We will spend the night here, ending the first day of walking.

DAY 2: HUACAWASI – PATACANCHA – OLLANTAYTAMBO

After getting up early and having breakfast, we will start walking. The hike lasts between 7 and 8 hours, beginning with an ascent to the Abra Pass (4,480 m). The climb is quite demanding, but offers an indescribable panoramic view of the snow-capped peaks of Pitusiray, Sawasiray, Chicon and their stunning surroundings.

Halfway through the route, we will stop for lunch. Along the way, we will pass through Andean communities whose inhabitants have extensive knowledge of natural agriculture and ancient textile traditions, reflected in their unique and colorful clothing.

After crossing the pass, we will descend to our camp next to the small town of Patacancha (3,720 m), where you will board our bus to Ollantaytambo. Tonight, accommodation will be either in a hotel or at a campsite.

DAY 3: OLLANTAYTAMBO – KM 104 – WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU

We will take the train in Ollantaytambo to kilometer 104. At this checkpoint, after checking our tickets and passports with a Machu Picchu park ranger, we will begin walking for approximately 3 hours to the well-preserved remains of Wiñay Wayna (8,700 feet).

After lunch, we will have time to rest and explore the houses, terraces and towers of the site, as well as visit Inti Punku, the Inca Gate of the Sun, where we can see Machu Picchu for the first time. After a general description and orientation of the city of Machu Picchu, you will take the shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have the opportunity to dine at a local restaurant and spend the night at the selected category hotel.

DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

After an early breakfast, your guide will pick you up to visit the Machu Picchu Sanctuary for a full day of exploration. After this incredible visit, you will return to the town of Machu Picchu (Aguas Calientes) to have lunch at a local restaurant, then take the Expedition train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, our transportation will be waiting to return you to Cusco, ending days full of adventures and new experiences.
